The babysitter's course is fun and fast-paced with hands-on activities, exciting videos, role-playing, and lively discussions. You’ll gain the confidence to make smart decisions and stay safe in any babysitting situation. 


Participants will learn

  • How to supervise children and infants
  • How to perform basic child-care skills such as diapering and feeding
  • How to be a safe responsible and successful babysitter
  • The importance of being a leader and using the FIND decision-making model to make decisions and solve problems
  • How to use the Babysitter's Self-Assessment Tool to help you learn about your babysitting skills, abilities and interests, and will help you know which babysitting jobs are right for you
  • Basics of child development
  • How to choose safe, age-appropriate games & toys
  • How to handle bedtime and discipline issues
  • How to identify safety hazards and prevent injuries
  • How to communicate effectively with parents

Details

Must bring a packed lunch and a doll or teddy bear to class. The class requires a minimum of five paid attendees registered by the week prior to the class date.
